Welcome to a New World…

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to a New World...Well, it’s been a while since I logged a post, so much has been happening and I just found my time was limited, but that will change, as it is a new year, and I am raring and willing to once again provide great RVing content to our website.

Well, were to begin, I guess I should ask the big question, are you and your family all right? Has COVID made its way into your world? The answer for us is NO! We have managed to not get hit With COVID throughout this pandemic which to me is amazing since Lorraine works in the Emergency dept. We feel very blessed and lucky as Lorraine was chosen as one of the first people in the first responders’ group to get a first jab of the Vaccine. She is scheduled to get her second dose next weekend. So once that has happened at least half of us will be protected and I guess in away so will I. I fully expect to not get my jab until late summer or fall, based on how the vaccine rollout here in Canada and Alberta is shaping up. I by no means am critical or vulnerable. I am (Thank God) in good health and have not had even a sniffle since my bout with Sickness at the end of our camping season last year. As you will remember I became sick on our last trip of the season and spent a week sick in our RV before I got up enough energy to pack us up and head for home. Then I spent the next three weeks in bed with some kind of flu.

Since then, I have been really busy with my real job. It was not as bad as the first lock down but still we were all swamped at work getting all of our people ready to work from home. This year alone I have worked I would say 80% of the year from home.  Boy, how COVID has changed the landscape when it comes to work. I know there are a lot of people out of work and some that cannot work from home, and for that both Lorraine and I feel really bad for them, We are the lucky ones and for that we feel very blessed; but for those of us that are still working and can work from home it has been an experience to say the least!

I must admit that I like working from home as I can be near my fur-babies. My Boys are doing fine though Annie is having a lot of bad days lately. He is definitely showing his advanced age. This month he celebrated 17 ¼ yrs, we now celebrate Annie monthly as we do not know how much longer we will have him. Our little Eskimo just keeps on going, of course with a little help from me, especially in the middle of the night when he must go outside for a pee. After sleeping he is really wobbly on his legs and often falls down and needs my help to get up and out the door. We don’t know how much longer he will be with us but we enjoy every moment we get with our little Eskimo.

Finny on the other hand has really settled into our lives. He has become a great family dog and all most all of his bad habits have disappeared, with a few exceptions; Like dragging the rugs we have down for Annie all over the house when he feels he is being ignored.  Or humping my leg when he wants to show me how much he loves me! Finny is quite the character and often makes us laugh with his antics and silliness. Finny has settled into our routine and lives for his walks after I finish work. We walk for about 2hrs and travel the Bowness dog park into the hills of Silver Springs. It is a wonderful walk but a lot of ups and downs, which Finny loves but not so much me.

Camping this year is now on my agenda and I have been doing some preliminary planning. I think it will be a stick close to home kind of year, as I believe the Provinces will once again restrict camping to just their residents and ask visitors to stay home.  British Columbia is already trying to do this by establishing a travel bubble like they have in Atlantic Canada; not sure if they will get away with it but they are trying. That’s ok as we have a lot of places to go to here in Alberta, some favorites and others will be new adventures. I already have 12 places that I am scoping out for potential trips, and they all look like fabulous places in which to setup camp and spend a few days relaxing and enjoying the RV.

There are already some dates to be aware of for camp site bookings. Federal parks will start booking on April 8th 2021 and Saskatchewan is starting booking on April 12th 2021. Alberta has not come out with its opening dates as of yet, nor British Columbia; but let the planning begin eh?

I guess that is all for now so I will leave you with a few pictures of camping trips past a few pics of our fur-babies in their glory.

Till next time,

Happy Trails,

The Glampurs
