Happy New Year Everyone! With winter all around us and spring and summer seemingly so far away what is an RV’er to do? Well if you don’t partake in any winter time activities ( I like to Ski) then Winter can be a long time to endure before it’s time to get the rig ready for another season of summertime fun. I know that even though I love to Ski and typically get a mountain pass for the season, I still pine away for my rig and the summer of travel fun. January is always a hard month to get through. We are all coming off of the holiday High and we come crashing down to the cold realities of life. So to get over the January blues I not only ski my heart out but I begin to plan and dream of the summer ahead.
Looking at my RV in the driveway all covered up makes my heart a bit sad but the dream of waking her up and once again working on my rig and achieving what seems at times the impossible travel dream always give me a bit of a lift. Trolling Amazon, Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, and Camp Casual sites looking for the next piece of glamping gear also helps to quell my winter blues. Then there are the Travel blogs and newsletters that I subscribe to that allow me to dream of being a Canadian Snowbird and sometime in the future escape the cold winter months for a warmer location. Alas that is still a ways away as I must still work to fuel our dreams and ambitions.
Lorraine laughs at me for dreaming the way that I do and having the audacity to plan, book, and purchase the gear I think we need to enhance our glamping experience in the dead of winter. In the end though, she is pretty happy that I do as it always ensures that we have a fantastic summertime experience and one with little to no hassles or rig issues.
Canadians are a resilient bunch and for the most part we have made peace with winter and accept its beauty for what it is. So with a tip of the hat to Winter I can always find some way to make it a bit more endurable, and find that warm silver lining that allows all of us Canadians to wait once again for summer’s warmth and travel fun.
Happy Trails
