11.02.18 – Alberta – Buffalo Lake RV park in Trouble

No matter how you feel about resort style campgrounds, with increasing pressure on spaces versus campers, any loss of campsites is tragic for all.

Buffalo Lake in central Alberta has been the center of a controversy regarding size and zoning laws. The proposed 1000 site resort style campground has jumped the gun on development of this super size camping destination ahead of zoning hearings and ruling. As it turns out the zoning committee has ruled against Paradise Shores, and has reduced their approval from 1000 sites down to 168, citing existing zoning laws for Buffalo lake were not in alignment with Paradise's development plans. There is no word on whether the developer will appeal the decision.
