Did you get a spot? Poor Finny!

Final 1

Did you get a spot? Well as predicted opening day in Alberta was a nightmare for most who braved the system in order to book a May long weekend campsite. I tried to get in on several occasions and the system just froze and gave the frustrating Server not Responding error. Social media was in an uproar and may people were experiencing the same frustrations. Some, right at checkout were getting dumped and losing all their bookings and having to start again. Sigh…The promise of a new and improved booking website was all just smoke and mirrors. I could go on about how inefficient the Government is but I will let this issue lie once again.

From here on, booking in Alberta will be a little bit easier as the web server should not be so overloaded with book crazy campers. The demand now will get spread out. So I am confident that we will get the bookings that we want for this season, with us traveling outside of the popular dates.

Spring is certainly in the air in Calgary! March has come in as a lamb, with moderate above 0c temps and sunny’ish skies. This weather certainly has me wishing for the moment when I can start to wake up the RV from its long sleep, and start my de-winterizing and maintenance tasks. I have some cool mods to do and I can’t wait to get at‘em and get the work done and try them out. Camping season is getting closer, just over 2 ½ months; that time will go quickly and before we know it, it will be May long.

On a sadder note, Finny My Poor boy is at home now recovering from his traumatic experience at the Puppy Hospital. Finny became very sick five days ago and spotted a high fever of 104. The Vets were stumped as to what was wrong until yesterday. Poor Finny has developed an Auto-immune disease. He has been diagnosed with Poly-arthritis. So young for such a nasty disease. The good news is that Finny should recover and go into Remission-Hopefully. It will be a six-month adventure using a drug therapy to force his body to go into remission. Finny will have to isolate while going through this therapy, so that means no dog parks and no doggy hellos with strange dogs. That will be hard for Finn as he is such a social butterfly now. I hope by early summer Finny will be back to normal and able to do normal dog thigs again.
