Are you ready for competitive camping

Final 1

Are you ready for competitive camping? Camping season has taken off like a rocket, with three of the biggies having their booking sites overwhelmed. It would appear that there is a very big pent up need for Canadians to get out and enjoy their backyard. With all that demand it is going to be another year of competitive camping. Being on your game and having Plan A, B, C, and even D ready to book if any or all should fail. Opening day was only the beginning, especially if you will be trying to book on more popular days like Canada Day or August Long. Most of our traveling this year will be during off peek weeks, which I hope will allow me to get the sites I want without too much hassle.  Unfortunately, I think it will be very competitive regardless, and it will be difficult to get sites. People are going to have to be creative on where they try to go especially at popular spots during popular times.

High Demand For Campsites

Campers Rush to Book BC

 High Demand for Campsites

I do have one concern, My Daughter is celebrating her 30th Birthday this year and she would like the family to converge on Tofino to celebrate with her.

Tofino… Oh! I guess that means a trip to the Island again, this year. Well, that was not quite in the plans for this year, but being the Dad that I am I have turned it all around and am now trying to book into BC. First I need a spot on the Island. We agreed that we would like to try to get in at the Federal Park rather than a private RV park. So we will try to book into Pacific Rim National Park, Green point Campground first. Federal bookings open on April 7th, so I will do my best to get a spot. If not, then I will be calling the private RV parks to see if they have any openings for Sept 1 to the 9th Then Bookings for BC Provincial campgrounds don’t open for out of Province campers till July 8th. I will be very lucky if I can get a site then, but we will certainly take a look and see what is available. I do not want to do another 22hr drive straight. When I did that for my Brother’s wedding last year that was too much! And it was really difficult especially after dark.  Regardless, it is going to be difficult if down right impossible to book this trip but it is for my daughter so I will do my best to pull a rabbit out of the hat!

Finny…

Finny is slowly getting better. His energy level is getting better and he is eating and drinking again. His temperature has come down and stayed down, and he has wanted to go out on walks. That is a huge improvement. Finn still gets tired after his walks but every day he gets stronger. Finny has an appointment with the Vet Specialist on Friday, where I hope she will give him a clean bill of health. It would be a shame if Finny could not be his ole doggy self with all of the places we have planned to go to this camping season. It is hard to keep him sequestered and away from other dogs let alone not visit the dog park.

Spring is trying to come out here in Calgary, Today Winter kind of came back and kissed the city, but tomorrow the weather changes and by the weekend we will be in double digit temperatures. Sunny and warm once again kissed by spring.  With all of this nice weather it just makes a guy want to work on his rig. Ha! There is still snow on the roof so no work here yet to be had. Sigh..I guess I will just have to be satisfied with spring skiing! Ha! Ha!

So here are some pictures of past adventures, to wet your whistle for warmer days ahead.

Happy Trails,
