2019 Travel Plans

Final 1

Hi Everyone,

The Glampurs have been very busy getting ready for the 2019 Camping season and finalizing our travel plans for this year. As it stands now we will be on the road for 45 days which I think is pretty good for the Canadian camping season. We have confirmed bookings at nine different campgrounds in both Alberta and BC. Most of our travels will be in BC this year with us once again traveling the West coast Loop for our wedding and honeymoon. Both Lorraine and I are very excited to get our travels started which will begin on June 4th of this year. Of course the ever rising cost of gas in BC is of great concern to us and will definitely increase or travel budget as gas is hovering around $1.72 / liter in the lower mainland and on Vancouver Island. At 208 liters for a full tank we will be looking at around $360.00 for a full tank of gas. Ouch!  Regardless of the increase to our fuel budget which I believe will be around the $2,500.00 mark for our glamping adventure in BC, we are still very committed to this trip and all it will offer us on our special wedding month.

The places we will visit this year are:

  • Medicine Lake – Alberta
  • Kicking horse pass - BC
  • Banff – Alberta
  • Lac Le Jeune – BC
  • Rathtrevor Beach (Vancouver Island) - BC
  • Manning park – BC
  • Okanagan (Kelowna) BC
  • Gladstone (Texas Creek - Christina Lake) – BC
  • Kikomun Creek – BC

Each place will offer us unique experiences that will refresh our souls and allow us to enjoy our glamping to the fullest. Both Lorraine and I will visit some new places in this list and others will be a warm return to areas that we so enjoyed the last time we were there. For all of these places with the exception of Medicine Lake it will be the first time we have glamped there with the new RV. So on my part at least it will be interesting to see how well the new RV travels through the mountain passes and what kind of gas mileage we will get.  Already I know that we will be paying more for the ferry crossing between the lower mainland and Vancouver Island as our combined length of RV and new Toad will be longer than our previous trips. For that cost I have budgeted $320 / crossing for a total of $640.00. As you can see our trip into BC will be an expensive one this year. Never the less the overall 2019 camping season I predict will be a great success, and since I am working feverously on preparing the RV for the trip I expect little to no issues affecting us that way. At least one can always hope.

Of course all of the above could not be possible unless I had planned the season as I did back in December and January, and also identified and again planed all of the RV maintenance, upgrades, and repairs required to make our season a stress less adventure. To all of you out there we hope your 2019 camping season will be adventurous and stress less as we expect ours to be.

Happy Trails
